Background:
I teach at Imperial College and have an MA in Creative Writing (Birkbeck, University of London) as well as an MSc in Medical Humanities (King’s College London).
Writing:
My first poetry book, A Terrible Thing was published by Bad Betty Press in October 2020 and my second pamphlet, Siren by Broken Sleep Books in September 2022. My debut children's novel 'The Destiny of Minou Moonshine' was published by Zephyr books (Bloomsbury) in July 2023 and was described by the Guardian as '..a remarkable debut, poetic, imaginative and gripping.' My second novel for children, The Voyage of Sam Singh is out in July 2024 with the same publisher.
Teaching:
Sessional Lecturer in Creative Writing at Imperial College 2015–present.
I teach creative writing to undergraduate science and medical students. I also teach workshops in narrative medicine and poetry as reflective practice for wider audiences in medical education.
I am available for school visits aimed at upper KS2/lower KS3.
I am available for poetry workshops from KS1 through to A-level as well as higher education and community settings. I am a 'Poet in Schools' through The Poetry Society.
I am available for poetry readings and workshops as an individual and as a member of the poetry collective Kinara, with poets Anita Pati, Sarala Estruch, Rushika Wick, Shash Trevett and Sylee Gore.
