I’m a Dramaturg, director, playwright and Artistic Director of Wonderland Productions in Dublin. I believe that playwrighting is a craft that can be taught and I adore mentoring playwrights and am a director and writer myself. I can offer mentoring online or in person in North County Dublin.
For annotating your manuscript, reading, reporting and meeting, my fee varies from €300-500 for plays of between 10,000-21,000 words in length.
About me
Every Tuesday evening from 5-7.30pm I host Wonderland Theatre Book Club online. Ours is a lively international Book Club for writers and artists who want to ignite their craft by reading important plays and writing together. I’m also a regular Professional Mentor at the Irish Writers Centre where I have taught courses like Classic Techniques of Comedy and Techniques of Adaptation.
Before working as a freelance Dramaturg, I trained as a Literary Reader at The Abbey Theatre, Ireland's National Theatre for 12 years. My role at the Abbey was to read up to 6 new plays a month. I read each new play in depth, writing 2000 word reports on its use of structure, character, theatricality, language and style. Nowadays, using my work with the Abbey as our model, I can read and annotate your new play/screen play and write a report based on it, before we then meet online or in person for up to 90 minutes.
These days many of the writers I mentor work with me weekly through the Wonderland Book Club, and also one on one with their full length works, at all levels of production. Subject to funding, my ambition is bring the best of the plays I have mentored all the way from development to production as your dramaturg and director.
If you're thinking of asking me to be your Dramaturg or Mentor, it may interest you to know that I hold a First Class Honours in Drama & English from Trinity College Dublin, with a scholarship year at The University of California at Berkeley and a MA in Theatre Directing. I have since directed over 70 shows and I am a qualified Drama teacher.
I accomplished this by founding and running my own theatre company Wonderland Productions in 2003, through which I have written, directed, produced and designed my own work. www.wonderlandtheatre.com
Aside from writing, I am a Staff/Assistant Director for opera. I have worked for The Royal Opera House, Scottish Opera and Opera Ireland specialising in the Italian repertoire to date and speak Italian fluently.
I am also a professional member of The Irish Writers Centre, Irish Theatre Forum and Mother Artists Makers.
