TWP is seeking to commission a writer with a professional background in theatre or radio writing who would be interested in working with us on an unusual audio production.
Theatre Writing Partnership, based in Nottingham, has been commissioned as part of the Breath of Fresh Air programme to produce an audio guide with a difference for families visiting Belton House in Grantham - a National Trust property with extensive grounds.
Our challenge is to create a narrative or fragments of narratives which can be downloaded by families onto phones or MP3 players and which will take them on a physical and imaginative journey through some of the parkland at Belton House. As well as a listening experience, this can also be a playful interactive journey incorporating tasks for the participants as well as walking and listening.
This collaboration with the National Trust, supported by Breath of Fresh Air is not a heritage project which has to focus on history, but an artistic experiment which allows the writer to respond freely to the landscape and the territory.
Research workshops will take place during summer 2011 with children and volunteers and the date for script delivery will be October/November 2011. The completed work will be presented to the public in Spring 2012.
