Are you a professional writer? Are you passionate about using creative writing and the power of words to help survivors of torture have a voice? We have an exciting opportunity for two people to volunteer as Mentors/Workshop Facilitators for our unique creative writing group, ‘Write to Life’, located at our London Centre.
For the past 20 years Freedom from Torture has developed Write to Life, into a thriving creative writing group with existing and former clients, all of whom are survivors of torture.
Although primarily a writing group, that writing has taken many forms, from film to musical narrative to theatre, and now exploring comedy. We have also recently begun to publish a Zine, in digital and hard copy.
If you are a professional writer of any kind (novels, plays, poetry, or from publishing or teaching), have experience with vulnerable populations, ideally as a writing teacher, and if you’re able to commit to volunteering for at least one year in our Write to Life creative writing group, we would love to hear from you.
