The 2024 Future Worlds Prize for Fantasy & Science Fiction Writers of Colour

We're looking for great works of science fiction and fantasy by new writers of colour living in the UK or Ireland and we're open to everything from space operas and dystopias to books set in magical worlds and more.

To enter, you must:
self-identify as a person of colour
be aged over 18
be living in the UK or Ireland.

As part of your entry, please submit:
a 5,000-10,000 word extract of either a short story or the opening chapters of a novel
a covering letter

The winner will receive a prize of £4,000, while a runner-up gets a prize of £2,000. All those shortlisted, as well as the runner-up and winner, will receive mentoring from our publishing partners.
