Richmond upon Thames Literature festival is looking for bright and enthusiastic volunteers to assist with the preparations and event management for the festival

Festival Assistants - Voluntary placements (travel expenses offered within London)

Richmond upon Thames Literature festival is looking for bright and enthusiastic volunteers to assist with the preparations and event management for the festival throughout October and November. This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or current students with a keen interest in arts events management, marketing, live literature and arts culture.

The placements are for 2 to 4 days commencing early October for around 8 weeks. Hours are flexible but applicants should be available to work some evening and weekend dates duringthefestival in November. The volunteers will be based at Orleans House Gallery, working at events in various venues across the borough.

The successful applicants will be required to provide support and assistance to the Richmond Literature Festival team, led by the Arts Events Coordinator. Duties may include: researching marketing strategies for the festival, targeted marketing for festival events, assisting with social media, writing and blogging for the festival website, front of house duties at festival events – assisting with ticket sales and members of the public, technical set up and collecting audience feedback.

We expect likely candidates to be recent graduates or students currently studying a degree in a relevant subject, where the placement may support or form part of their studies and provide relevant work experience and whom are passionate about literature with good knowledge and experience of working on live festivals / arts events. Successful candidates will also have strong communication skills, fluent English, high levels of enthusiasm and sound administration and IT skills.

These placements are unpaid, however we are able to offer travel expenses within London.
