The Wordsworth Trust, through funding it receives from Arts Council England as a National Portfolio Organisation, is offering three poetry residencies, each of a month’s duration, between December 2018 and March 2019.
The residency offers an exciting opportunity for exceptional poets, from any cultural background and writing within any literary tradition, to spend time in the heart of the Lake District, a World Heritage Site that so inspired William Wordsworth. Ideally you will have published a full-length collection with a reputable publisher, but poets with a pamphlet collection and/or a significant award will also be considered.
You will have the opportunity to respond creatively to the Wordsworth Trust’s outstanding collection of manuscripts, books and fine art, to engage with the Trust’s educational and outreach programmes, in Grasmere and throughout Cumbria, and to contribute to our HLF-funded project, Reimagining Wordsworth.
Each poet will be paid a fee of £1,750 for a one-month residency. For the duration of your residency you will be provided with an atmospheric self-catering cottage opposite Dove Cottage in the heart of Town End. The Wordsworth Trust will reimburse work-related expenses such as travel and materials.
Details of the residencies, including how to apply, can be found on our website
The deadline for application is 5.00pm on 27 August 2018.
Interviews will be held in Grasmere on 4 October.
