OPEN NOW! Edinburgh Short Story Award 2025

£3,000 first prize for stories up to 2,000 words, any topic. Plus awards for top entry by an unpublished writer in Scotland and for the most amusing/bizarre story. Publication offer to top 20 authors. Open to writers worldwide.
We welcome stories in all genres: literary, historic, crime, romance, queer, contemporary, thriller, humour and more.
First Prize £3,000, Second Prize £500, Third Prize £250 plus publication is offered to authors of the top twenty stories in The Edinburgh Anthology, published annually. The Scottish Arts Club awards one-year free membership to the main prize-winners.
Additional awards include the £750 Isobel Lodge Award for unpublished writers living in Scotland, the £300 Write Mango Short Story Award for the most amusing/bizarre story entered in the competition and the £300 First Write award for unpublished writers worldwide.
Entry fee £11. Free entry is available for talented writers through our bursary scheme.
