Are you a writer keen to join a vibrant creative team working for a world class university? We have an exciting opportunity in the School of English for someone with a passion for fiction looking to use their skills in Creative Writing to make a real impact on the intellectual life of our student body.

As a key member of the Creative Writing team, you will play a central role in developing and supporting creative practice within the School of English. With principal responsibility for the design and delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate modules focusing on prose fiction, you will have opportunities to contribute to the broader creative community within the School and beyond.

You will play an active role in the life of the School of English, providing pastoral support to tutees, supervising undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations and marking and moderating student work. And a commitment to some aspect of Equality, Diversity, Inclusion (EDI) and/or Sustainability.

You will use your fiction writing experience to provide essential support to the creative practice-based research at Sheffield and help to ensure the reputation of the University for experimental and imaginative work.

You will have a good track record in fiction publication and research (which may include creative non-fiction, memoir, collage, experimental and hybrid), have or be close to completing a PhD in creative writing, English or a related subject area (or equivalent experience), as well as proven teaching ability.
