Hammond House International Literary Prize 2024

Sponsored by the University Centre Grimsby, this annual writing competition, now in its eighth year, attracts entries from up to 30 countries around the world.
Enter any of our four categories – short story, poetry, scriptwriting, songwriting – for the opportunity to win cash prizes, have your work published in our annual anthologies, and even have expert feedback on your work. This year's theme is Time.

Short Story (1000 – 5000 words)

1st Prize: £1000
2nd Prize: £100
3rd Prize: £50
Worldwide publication for all shortlisted entries.

Poetry (max. 40 lines)
1st Prize: £1000
2nd Prize: £100
3rd Prize: £50
Worldwide publication for all shortlisted entries.

Scriptwriting (up to 10 pages - Theatre • Radio • Short Film • Television • Comedy Sketch)
1st Prize: £500
All winners are published on the website and extracts are published in the Hammond House anthologies

Songwriting
1st Prize: £100 in each sub-category
The Song Lyrics winners are published in the Hammond House anthology.
The Recorded Song winner will be played at the 2025 Literary Festival and benefit from worldwide release on the Hammond House record label.
