A significant opportunity to influence the successful establishment of the National Poetry Centre (NPC) in Leeds. You will help drive forward the Centre's development and establish partnerships to progress both the building project and creative program.
The National Poetry Centre (NPC) is the brainchild of Simon Armitage and the Centre will be the principal legacy project of his tenure as Poet Laureate, which comes to an end in 2029.
Supported by a voluntary steering group of stakeholders, a feasibility study has identified a building to house the NPC and outline design work is complete. The NPC recently established itself as a charity. There is substantial senior commitment to the project from Arts Council England, Leeds City Council and from the University of Leeds which owns the building.
With initial development funding from those partners secured, we wish to appoint a Development Director as the organisation's first paid post, to take the project to the next stage. The role offers a significant opportunity to influence the successful establishment of the NPC in Leeds.
You will work with the NPC steering group to drive forward plans for its organisational development and to establish relationships with diverse partners in order to progress both the building project and programming of the Centre. The Poet Laureate retains a keen interest in all aspects of the project and will have regular input at every stage.
