Deadline: Sun 20 Nov 2022
The University of Cambridge, Institute of Continuing Education (ICE) delivers accessible high-quality and distinctive educational programmes for adult learners, predominantly studying on a part-time basis, for either personal enrichment or professional development.
Over the past decade, the Creative Writing Programme at ICE has developed into one of the preeminent offers for mature students seeking to take their first steps in writing or undertake advanced study with a view to publishing their work.
The Programme currently comprises three Masters of Studies (MSt) courses in different domains of writing, a postgraduate certificate in the teaching of creative writing and a range of undergraduate sub-degrees, including open-entry certificates. All award-bearing courses lead to a University of Cambridge qualification. The Programme also incorporates in-person and online short courses, including micro-credentials offered on the edX platform and a range of courses delivered via the University's official summer programme.
We wish to appoint an Associate Teaching Professor in Creative Writing to lead the portfolio. As part of a prominent, pivotal and rewarding role, the successful candidate will provide academic leadership across the portfolio, as well as teaching and academic administration.
The successful applicant will have a demonstrated track record of excellent teaching, expertise in curriculum development, a commitment to supporting students educationally and pastorally and creating an inclusive and supportive student experience. They are likely to have previously worked in a course or programme leadership role in a UK university setting, understanding the key approaches to quality assurance and enhancement in a regulated higher education sector.
It is anticipated that the post holder will be a published author, with relevant practitioner experience in fields such as fiction, non-fiction or writing for performance and preferably be able to demonstrate an extensive professional network in writing and publishing fields.
