Writers' HQ procrastination-busting Writing Retreats come to Glasgow! It's time to stop faffing about and start writing. We’ll help you set your personal goal for the day and longer term. And then you write. And write. No distractions. No excuses. Just writing. Perfect. Facilitator: Melissa Stirling Reid
Spend the day with a bunch of writers*, limitless caffeine and no Internet. (*'writers' includes: anyone and everyone who writes - i.e. creative writers, bloggers, writers of dissertations, pen-pals, nonfiction writers. If you write, you're welcome.)
A score board, gold stars, general silliness and supportive competitiveness will help you reach your targets, break you out of your bad habits, and get your writing moving. No distractions. No excuses. Just writing. Perfect.
The Glasgow Writers' HQ retreat is run by Melissa Stirling Reid. Melissa is a curious writer, reader, and photograph-taker who lives by the sea and drinks more tea than water. She recently completed a PhD in Creative Writing at the University of Strathclyde and is currently revising the coming-of-age novel that she began as part of that. Her work – both fiction and creative nonfiction – has been published several places, including being broadcast on BBC Radio 4.
During her PhD, Melissa founded Quotidian Literary Magazine, and since 2015, she has been teaching Creative Writing to undergrads and masters students at Strathclyde. She keeps an observational blog (www.somethingnoticed.com) which is sort of a love letter to the ordinary.
