Arvon Masterclass: Writing and AI - Demystifying AI with George Walkley
Tue 29 Apr 2025 to Tue 29 Apr 2025
This masterclass demystifies the subject, explaining clearly how generative AI works, its strengths and limitations, the areas of legitimate concern for writers, where publishers are using AI, and how it could be useful for authors.

It has been hard to ignore the impact of AI on writing and publishing, but for many authors it has been a source of uncertainty and concern.

During the session you will explore the theory, learn how to use AI safely, and try a series of hands-on exercises using popular AI tools (details will be confirmed with attendees in advance). There is a wide range of opinion on AI, and by the end of the session you will have the information and experience to make up your own mind on whether and how to use AI tools in your work—and be informed about the various ways that publishers, retailers and others might be doing so.

The masterclass is suitable for writers in all genres and at every stage of their creative process.

George Walkley is an independent consultant and non-executive director based in the United Kingdom.
