Derived from 'haberdashery', HOUSE OF HABERDASH invites writers, artists and designers to submit their wares and become part of a whirlwind summer of haberdashing.
This summer (2025), in association with TEXTUS, the Torriano Meeting House in Kentish Town, London will transform into the HOUSE OF HABERDASH, a group exhibition and series of activations, including readings, workshops and sales.
We are interested in work that explores the items you might find in historical, modern or fantastical haberdasheries: zips, buttons, pins, hats, thread, hosiery.
Haberdashery and the history of haberdasheries evoke an assortment of themes and ideas: localism, repair, upcycling, trade, collecting, ornament, detail, nostalgia, craft, smallness. The items you might find in real or imagined haberdasheries hold limitless opportunities for exploration.
Our call-out is an offering, a starting point for your unique interpretation. So, have fun with it, be inventive with it, get political with it, start haberdashing.
TEXTUS is a curatorial and publishing project that brings interdisciplinary creatives together to explore, critique and re-imagine fashion and textile environments, design, history, culture, language and logic. We curate exhibitions and events and publish irregularly.
