New Writing for Theatre Residency, Hugo Burge Foundation
Deadline: Thu 9 Jan 2025
This is a residency for a writer at any stage of their career who is writing a new piece of work for theatre. The successful applicant will receive private use of the Tower Studio, on-site accommodation in one of our cosy Hobbit Pods, and a weekly stipend of £350.

In addition, this residency is part of a partnership with DunsPlayFest who have kindly offered to work with the successful resident to stage a scratch reading or rehearsed reading as part of PlayFest 2025. DunsPlayFest was established in 2019 as a nine day-long celebration of brand-new theatre and dramatic writing, all staged in the historic Borders town of Duns.

You will be able to spend time with other artists and makers on site, along with another visiting artist also on residency. Our Creative Director, Dr James Fox will provide mentorship during your stay.

Residency Dates: April 9th to May 2nd, 2025

The Hugo Burge Foundation offers fully-funded Residencies throughout the year at our dedicated studios in the spectacular Scottish Borders. We support the development of new and exciting work across all artforms.
