Building on the success of their previous Open Days for Under-Represented Writers, David Higham Associates plan to hold their next DHA New Writers’ Open Week for adult and children’s fiction in January 2021. Apply by 12th October.
We welcome applications from the following: LGBTQ+ writers, writers of colour, writers from working-class backgrounds, writers from ethnic, cultural and religious minorities and writers with a disability.
Entries must be in English and will be accepted from anywhere in the world, with the exceptions of North America, Australia and New Zealand (on the basis that there are thriving publishing and agenting communities in those territories). Writers should be un-agented.
We will invite all applicants to a series of online events this Autumn aiming to demystify the industry, including advice on writing submission letters, a look at the role of the agent, as well as the work of translation and film & TV rights teams.
Twenty writers will then be selected to attend our DHA New Writers’ Open Week in January 2021, which will feature further exclusive talks from agents, authors and editors, and include an in-depth 1-1 feedback session on their submitted work with a DHA agent.
