New Writing Sought, Open Book
Deadline: Thu 23 May 2024
Open Book is seeking writing and supporting material from Scottish writers (writers living and working in Scotland) for their Unbound programme.

The fee paid to successful applicants is £175.

Submissions must contain the following: 1) a new, previously unpublished piece of fiction or memoir of approximately 1000 words, 2) three linked writing prompts, 3) three linked discussion questions, 4) a link to two publicly-available (online and out of copyright) poems which in some way connect to the writing (please note: poems should not be your own work), 5) a suggestion of a broad theme for your writing, and 6) a short bio (50 word).

Open Book will include this writing in their Unbound newsletter, which is used in Open Book groups. The work may also be used in an episode of the Unbound podcast and featured widely across Open Book socials. Each issue of Unbound centres on a broad theme, which in the past has included home, bridges, birds, garden, work, etc. Please also suggest a theme for the Unbound issue that would include your writing.

Deadline: 5pm on Thursday 23rd May 2024
