Become a Trustee of the National Association of Writers in Education
Deadline: Sat 1 Jun 2024
The Trustees of NAWE are looking for new people to join the NAWE Board of Trustees. NAWE is a not-for-profit company and a Registered Charity, and its activities are overseen by a group of NAWE Members who are Trustees of the organisation.

Duties focus on good governance – making sure that NAWE is run appropriately – but Trustees also develop NAWE’s activities, oversee general management and support NAWE’s excellent team of p/t contractors, while working with our management partners, Mosaic.

Trustees attend Board Meetings (online, one hour in duration, between four and six per year) and involve themselves in various aspects of NAWE’s work, for instance attending the Higher Education Sub-Committee or our online Member Meet-Ups. While Trustees take their responsibilities very seriously, the demands on time are fairly modest and the value to the organisation are significant. Those who have an interest in how a small cultural organisation is run, might find becoming a Trustee particularly useful.

While Trustees with a range of skills and interests are sought, those with experience of working as writers in schools and community settings and anyone with a knowledge of fundraising and organisational management would be particularly welcome. The current Trustees – all of whom are planning to remain in post – are a friendly and experienced group, and would be delighted to support, with advice and guidance, those who might be new to this role.

For more details or to express interest, please e-mail Derek Neale or / and Jonathan Davidson (NAWE Co-Chairs) on mailto:derek.neale@open.ac.uk / mailto:jonathan@midlandcreative.co.uk.

Deadline: 1 June 2024 (NB. This is a notional deadline to allow this opportunity to be added to the system - expressions of interest are welcomed at any time.)
